F4U-4 VMF-222 White 13.
« on: September 11, 2010, 12:49:27 PM »
After my last disastrous attempt at finding information on the F4U-4 I have tried again with this one.

Colonel Kenneth Walsh & his aircraft white 13. Interestingly every profile & model I have found shows this aircraft in a standard blue scheme & yet I can not find a photo of that era showing it in those colours. A book I bought today has photos showing it with a white nose that Mr Walsh himself contributed for this book. Maybe more interesting than the same old Blue pattern?

I could do that one.

As for the guilty… they can suck it.

Problem is you can't really trust those profiles. F4U-1A #17740 should be showing a roundel on the underside of its left wing (the actual aircraft had its outer left wing panel replaced by one from an earlier aircraft, and they never painted over the roundel. You can see this on the skin we have in the game).
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I only used that one as an example I have found many of that plane in fact in the 1990's Walsh was standing next to a F4U-4 replica of his plane that had only the blue nose & he autographed that plane?
