Yes it is, 185 Germans planes where lost, and turning point of the battle.  Also on this day the The Battle of Peleliu (codenamed Operation Stalemate II) began with Marines landing on the island.

Also 100 days til Christmas. Twas something the nurse told us when my youngest was born. He's 1 y.o. today  :)
