aceshigh.exe Has Stopped Working
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:58:29 PM »
Hi Guys,

I was online last night (Sunday, 9/12) at about 9:30 PM Mt. Time, when my video started to freeze up like warps.  Out of nowhere the game closed completely and went back to my windows desk top.  After some cus'n, I tried to log back in and now all I get is a message; "aceshigh.exe Has Stopped Working".  I tried downloading the patch pyro has posted as a result of a small revision they did and no difference.  I then went to the web page and downloaded the game again.  No difference there either.

Does anyone have any Ideas.  I have over 1,500 fighter perks... and all of those head settings where I want them.  I don't want to completely redue everything!

Any Ideas welcome

Thanks
Dez/Utah

Backup your 'Settings' folder to be safe but I believe a reinstall of the game should not erase those.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

You can back up settings, and your perks aren't saved on your computer.  Posting a DXDIAG might be helpful for Skuzzy or others to try and help you pinpoint the problem.

Sounds like something has gotten corrupted in the game installation.  It can happen when the game is not properly closed down, especially if you are running any type of anti-xxx software.

this has happened 3 times to me and all 3 times i was able to trace it back to the login.cfg and/or sysinfo.cfg files in my settings folder for AH. I just erase those files, and let AH rebuild them and everything works again. Doesn't make sense but it works.
