Hey Skuz - XP64 question
« on: September 22, 2010, 11:21:06 PM »
I've been using it for the last year - and apart from having to cobble together a bunch of drivers that work most of the time - its a great OS. Why'd it never catch on?

I'm guessing here, but I'd have to say #1 is the driver issue.
#2 there really is not all that much software written to take advantage of 64 bit.
So with a few notable exceptions, there really isn't much advantage to it.

Lack of solid driver support and Microsoft really did just cobble it together.  Sort of a band-aid OS.

The small footprint of XP really did not warrant going to 64 bit.  I still only have a 2GB system at home and with all the video editing I do, I never have a RAM issue.  I cannot figure out why people think they need upmteen GB of RAM to run Facebook.
