Squelch Range and Country vox
« on: September 18, 2010, 03:34:39 PM »
or make them tunable to squad / wingman only.

I love the banter and so on on FSO's that goes on before we actually take flight but when we go wheels up it's time, in my opinion, to get my game face on.

I'm constantly missing instructions from my CO and flight leader due to either one of them being stepped on with a bit of nostalgia from other squads.  No slight to them they have a right to yuck it up and have a good time but for me my good time comes from understanding the chain of command and being able to interpret my small piece of the overall picture.

As the dynamics change in any scenario I'd really like to be able to hear exactly what I'm expected to do be it from my CO, Flight lead, Wing lead, or wingman, without having to hear about what uncle Bob did last Christmas (okay I just grabbed that example out of my posterior but you get what I'm saying).

If there were a way to turn either or both of it would be fantastic for me at least.

Thank you for your consideration in advance.

I've always thought you should be able to squelch range. It would be particularly helpful when your
GV'ing and there's 50 people on range that won't shut up and you can't hear enemy tanks approching.
Squelch range and then you'll be all set for tanking!

Just squelch people.  I like upping il2 and act like a fo.  Some people like it, some others will squelch me. No hard feelings if they do :).  You notice most conversations are usually monopolized by 2 or 3 people.

Agree that you have to be pretty quick on the squelch button in FSO  some fridays.

Just .vsquelch  gameid the first 6 that are rude, loud, or obscene and it settles down fast.

Separate volume controls for range and channel vox please.  There could be little volume sliders on the radio/text bar so you can adjust them as needed.   :pray

Meh I can deal with the voices, the cussing, and so on.  That doesn't bother me much.  When I'm in an event and can't hear what I'm supposed to be doing that's irritating.  I'm going to try just turning voice all the way down on FSO's and see how that works for me but HTC / Skuzzy if it's not too much trouble to offer a per channel mute across the boards it would be fantastic.

+1 for the GV element. Range chan seems to cover a greater geographic area than is of immediate interest me when in me panzer. trying to figure out where that farkin M8 is going this time.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

This would be great.
Sometimes asking politely to move their banter elsewhere so they don't step on our squad vox works - sometimes there are tools that refuse to cooperate "It's my $15 and I can talk all I want."  *Sigh*

Why not two tuneable VOX's. like actual radios.   or just one tunable radio and do away with local channel. My Dad flew P47's  and P51's out of England.  He had one tunable radio for voice comm in the P47 and P51.  Each country could work out a Local VOX channel for country and other comm setting SOP's for using a channel.

If that's not doable , perhaps the ability to lower just the local channel volume.   A slider for VOX and a Slider for Local.  that why you could turn the volume on either one down to zero.
