Lost My Controller Setup in "Map Controllers"
« on: September 18, 2010, 08:22:00 AM »
Last night while tanking in Orange Arena at v85, I completely lost my calibration and my joystick setup.  My X, Y, and Z setup went completely blank as well as several button functions to my Fighterstick and Pro Throttle (CH Products).  I lost entries in Mode 1 as well as Mode 2.  The night before I upgraded my Aces High to the new version 2.21 with the new Mosquito plane.  I was running 1024 textures in high res.  This is the 1st time in 3 years of playing Aces High this situation has happened.  I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.  I had taken a hit that killed me, I was in a Panzer.  Then lost my setup.   I took the new Mosquito update, yesterday.  I was running 1024 textures in high res.  Played the game about 6 hours steady before this issue happened, flying bombers and gv's.  I have a powered hub.  I unplugged the 3 USB connectors to my powerd hub, then went into the Windows setup to reset and calibrate the joystick.  Then remapped the settings in the Clipboard.  It still does not work.  Entries in "Map Controllers" are still blank.   I ran my Flight Sim X after playing Aces High and my joystick, throttle and pedals work fine.  Looks like I will need to reload the game, not my idea of fun.

Also have been getting the TCP switch and lose my host connection frequently.  64 bit does not seem to like the game.  Maybe need to find an XP operating system.  Maybe time to try Linux.

I am not happy with my new PC i7-920 build, desktop, not a laptop, playing Aces High.  I do not like having to turn settings down or off to play this game.  Video card is nVidia Geforce GTX 260.  Power pack is a CoolerMaster 700W Silent Pro.  I have not overclocked it, yet.  Weak link is my broadband with Frontiernet.  I will try Roadrunner next May.

Other games work very well, actually super duper.  Have been running my new setup since May 2010.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

There seems to be issues with the 260 drivers.  The original drivers when the card first came out ran the game (game was in beta for the new graphics) without problems.  Since then the updates from Microsoft for the card and the Nvidia driver updates have had issues.   But I have also found out that some systems have the problem while others do not, no matter what drivers are being used.  The OS change will not solve the problem either.  If I find an solid solution I will post it here.

I think I will pull out the GTX 260 card and reinstall my Radeon HD 5770 and reload the game.  AND this time make a cd copy of my settings folder.

My motherboard is a Asus P6T V2, might get a later edition video card.  Video cards should be cheaper if not buying the latest/greatest through New Egg.  I'll do some reading to the other forum to see what guys are using.  I have enough xtra parts I can almost build another PC, which I will do later.

I read somewhere, the other day, Skuzzy said, the frequent TCP switching may be responsible for blowing out my settings because Aces High in that situation is not shutting down properly.  If the programming guys can't see how the kernal code is written I don't think the 64 bit machine's problem is going to get fixed.   I did buy a OEM 32 bit version of Windows 7 Home just for Aces High just gotta' figure out how I am going to do the operating system install and still keep my 64 bit on a separate hard drive.  I need to put a supercooler in this thing.  Time to rebuild the machine.
