Hi Res Texture Pack
« on: September 20, 2010, 01:01:52 PM »
Thanks, Aces High, for so clearly explaining what the Hi Res Texture Pack can do or not do. Since my system would choke on that, I was able to decide NOT to download it and thereby save myself lots of needless anguish that probably would have resulted if you had not done such a good job outlining the pros and cons.   :salute

this is the second paragraph on the hires d/l screen.

"It is worth noting, when using this high texture setting, there could be performance issues."  with a link to what those issues could be on your system.

How can I tell if I have the hi res package  installed properly. I downloaded it to aces high to a folder named ACESHI~1 but all that is in it is a res file with the name hirestex.

When you run the high resolution texture installer, it places the resource file in the right place and the only thing you have to do to enable it is to set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 1024, or higher, in the games "Video Settings".
