i have a good friend that runs a computer business. he gets much of his business from people getting stuff from those two sites.

Going to go ahead and call BS on this and the claim of making $500 from removing Facebook malware.  When you went to remove all that did it say right on it "Downloaded from Facebook" ?  My point being that for the most part once it's on your computer there isn't a very clear way of telling where it came from.  I'd say your friend with the business probably has alot of customers who don't want to admit they've been to one too many porn sites, and you could probably come to the same conclusion about gyrene's claim as well.

i didn't make the $500 claim.

trust me......my friend knows where his clients visit. he knows how to find where they went, even when they think they've erased their history.

Ok, if you say so. Obviously never heard of a mouse over activation. I just call them as the log files shows them. In case you have never done it before, the first concern is saving the persons files. I tend to go through the system to find out what is causing the problems, then research the why's and wherefore's. Sometimes I even go so far as to see if I can reproduce the problem on one of my older systems and figure out if there is an idiot proof way to prevent it for future reference...it's all habits I've gained since the old stealth boot sector viruses.

But you go ahead and think what you want.  :aok

I tried Facebook for a while.  Much like watching Southpark I could feel the intelligence being sucked out my brain the longer I stayed on it.

But, whatever makes someone happy so long as it doesn't adversely affect me.

Malware does not bother me.  It is the personal data of over 150M accounts in the hands of hackers that concerns me.  Even Facebooks CEO's own account has been violated.

Not worth the risk.  I look at it Facebook like it is a billboard on the freeway.  I just enjoy my privacy. Nothing on Facebook can be completely protected, and you are naive if you think it can be.

I have one, but I only use it to help assist in camping trips where we have people from several states gathering at one location.  Although they ask all the time, I don't even allow my nieces/nephews to be my friend.

It's not a bad tool if used correctly.

Sometimes you may get application requests from people to install an add on.  Most of the time they are innocent, albiet spam, but, as long you click reject on anything in question you won't be subjected to infections.  It's not rocket science by any means.

i've never expected that anything i do/say/type on the intardnet would be private......but the link you provided is just another little step in the wrong direction.....and the sad part is that people want it, 'cause it's all in the name of safety....or so we're told.

Fine with me till they tap into AH Squad Vox.  Until then, our plans to take over the world will be private.

"All applications that send encrypted information must provide a way to unscramble them".

Death to darknets and safely encrypted transmissions?
I imagine building this sort of weakness into the internet would be pretty cool for hackers.
