The Avro Bomb Carrier
« on: September 19, 2010, 07:59:31 AM »
I was reading all but a few of the Mossie XVIs used the avro bomb carrier which allowed 6X500 Lbs to be carried internally.  Is this an inaccurate statement?

I do not understand your response.

All but twelve of the 402 B Mk XVIs had the bulging bomb bay needed to carry the 4,000lb “Cookie”. With the help of an Avro bomb carrier the same bomb bay could carry six 500lb bombs.  -History of war .org

6 x 500lb bombs in Avro bomb-carrier. -diggerhistory.info

Pretty sketchy sources, all of my literature centers on germans planes.....  anyone help?

Pretty sure the Avro Bomb Carrier didn't see use.  I'll look into it when I get home from work, but I've never seen an operational load out of six 500s internally.
