+1 for the idea. Agree that there's a lot of details to hammer out.
First of all, no radar for these things. Unrealistic and plenty of Dar coverage as-is.
What if... instead of a FOB (Fwd operating base) spawning or appearing out of nowhere, it was built into the map from the get-go as and required troops to capture/use just like a regular field. (FOBs would not count towards country status or victory, merely facilitate it:) FOBs would have no defenses of their own, (A set of tents, a shack or two, barbed wire etc.) they'd merely be acting as another staging point offering more spawns/ routes of approach for GVers. This would really give a place to the C-47 pilots out there since they would have tons of little facilities to capture at the start of a war and once these places are up, they would require constant resupp runs for the "front line". If the very limited number of bldgs (5-6?) on a FOB are blown, it becomes unusable. C47 supps however would only require a 5 min lag to take effect and spruce things up.
I don't care for vehicles spawning out of thin air to a fixed point 20 miles away but most people don't want to drive that either; you need flexibility to avoid getting egged 3 sec after spawning.
FOBs should have multiple spawn points, maybe 5-6 that spread out like fingertips along a front line opposing the enemy FOB. Only when the FOBs connecting major bases have been captured can you hold an enemy field at risk with GVs.
I don't like the idea of aircraft being able to
spawn out of FOBs as it would throw off the gameplay a wee bit much. A little "dirt" stip in the style of the Finnish resistance would work well so you could land kills a little faster. A rearm pad wouldn't be too outlandish either, but no initial spawns or hangars.
