Insane Coho Lips Anti-Disco Army... Disco Demolition Night... Steve Dahl and Gary Meier - The Loop - WLUP.

I watched this mayhem on television... lucky no one was killed.

And it was Bill Veecks son, Mike Veeck who organized this.

MLB blacklisted him after this fiasco... rightfully so... IMHO.

X :salute

Mike Veeck has always been an innovator of marketing Baseball games.   He's done some even funnier things since the "DD Night".   He's in the Minor's now Marketing better than ever before.

Dr. Hook?   :rofl     Nope.

Steve Miller either

What? You two saying neither of those bands were disco bands?  :headscratch:

Dr. Hook had 2 songs that I remember very well that were mildly popular for disco...
You make my pants want to get up and dance.
Sharing the night together.

Steve Miller Band had more popular disco songs.
Fly Like an Eagle
Take the Money and Run
Jungle Love
The Joker
Swingtown...and more.

Dr. Hook was a Folk/Country Band.   So I don't know how in the hell you are making this correlation.

Take The Money and Run is a disco tune?
The Joker?

 :rofl :rofl

If Steve Miller is Disco (he is far from it, albeit overplayed and overrated), then "Have a Cigar" by Pink Floyd must be Disco.   You are so incorrect on these two bands it isn't funny.

Although dead, Disco frequesntly resurects itself for a few weeks at a time.  :lol

We have a classic rock station in range. All they play is 70s stuff for the most part.

I think Stairway to Heaven is played twice daily. Gets old real quick. Ive started listening to our local station. Im pleasantly surprised by the variety on it.

We have a variety station that plays the Bee-Gees to Green Day.

Its a good station

OMG, you were not fully aware of the world during the disco era were you? Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, Glen Campbell and Peter Frampton weren't disco artists either but all it took was 1 or 2 songs to hit the disco charts and all of a sudden they were popular disco artists, even if that was short lived.

Remember the words "it has a good beat and you can dance to it"? That's all it took, regardless of the band or its origins.

Disco gets airtime on a local old school R&B station. I know for sure it isn't dead.A lot of music that is called Disco is typically now called classic Soul/R&B, or Old School Funk. I played a corporate function about a year ago,and we did one set that was nothing but Disco/Funk,R&B,etc. And it just killed! They loved it. Kool and tha Gang, Earth Wind and Fire,Donna Sommer,KC and the Sunshine Band,etc.. Go back and listen to some of that stuff again. There is a lot going on there, especially in the rhythm section. Having been a bass player for about 30 years now,I really appreciate the songwriting that went on back in those days. Hated it then, but love it now.  :aok

I think I get it.  I gotta update my lexicon now.
I automatically thought that 70s song that didn't sound like classic rock and ballad is disco to me :headscratch:

i think disco is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_izvAbhExY

Thank you.   Some songs being "Pop" fared better on the "Disco Charts" because they were "Dance hits".    Someone doesn't understand that fact.
