I can't speak for Windows ME but Windows 2000 is *vastly* more stable than 98. Unfortunately AH doesn't work on it if you use USB as I do. Therefore, I've not been online at all :{

I've heard ME being total rip off

Never tried it myself, and surely won't..

*Still happy with Win 98, which is a scrap, but at least works*

Windows ME has drivers that optimize cable/dsl connects and have more drivers support than win 2000(from what i've heard).

reason I need to know is because im getting a new ghz comp.

ill just go ME, i need usb.

Let me put it this way Nath.

With ME I get frequent dumps to desktop, BSoD at shutdown and Hangs on Startup.

With Win 2K Life is good. Moved Jstick back to gameport AH works fine. I do get a screen freeze sometimes when I fire guns, but this will happen only once per login if it happens at all.
Only other thing I have noticed is I always get "Switched to TCP" message in 2K, UDP is fine in ME

 Windows 2000 is Windows NT 5.0 basically. And Windows "ME" is Windows 98.5 for the most part.  If you do not have any problems with your current OS why do you want to change to one of these? Stay with Win98 SE on the new pc is what I would recommend.

win2k rulez.  pretty much never crashes on me.  i reboot once a week or two to get back lost memory.  it multitasks way better than 9x (including ME).  i use gameport joystick, so no problems with AH.  don't know about other games--don't play them.  oh yeah, there is that other online flight sim.  brand 'W' doesn't work so well with win2k.  there's a few issues, but it technically does work.  anyways, i don't fly warbirds much (at all, really, holding out for wb3) so it doesn't matter.

Why can't USB be used with Win2k and AH?

2000 is NT kernel, which makes it more stable, and better for processor intensive apps, compiling, etc.

Me is 98 kernel, which has vastly superior multimedia/gaming performance. Any game (and I mean ANY game) that I own runs well under Me and ridiculously slowly under 2000.

2K is just not made for gaming, so, stability or not, if you want to game, use Me or 98.

If Win2k is slower for AH than 98, I haven't noticed.  My Celeron 766 does pretty well; 50FPS average in AH in Win2k.  If Win98 was 20FPS faster, I still wouldn't use it, since it is nowhere near as stable as Win2k.  I can imagine with lesser hardware, the difference would be much more apparent and might make a more compelling case for 98/ME.
