Best joystick?
« on: September 12, 2001, 12:54:00 PM »
I have been flying Aces High with a Radio Shack "Acemaster" joystick. Can anyone give me information on a joystick that would offer more superior control than the one I presently use? Also is there a good way to secure your jockstick to your desk, and does it really help?

Hey Rwy...Do you have any problems with the stick movement left/right?  Like, do your legs get in the way when your feet are on the rudders?  I thought about doing this the other day, and that was the first question that popped into my head.  Thanks!

Shakes,

For non USB sticks I like the CH Pro. Not the cheapest but I have had 2 now and they last a LONG time. They give a 3 year warrantee and I have yet to need to use it. Can't say the same for thrustmaster. I have a tmaster stick and cannot even use it with tmaster rudder pedals. They are incompatible wiuth each other.

I have no experiance with USB stuff so no help there.

Guys the joystick is very stable. No problems at all. When you calibrate in Aces Hi (cant calibrate Usb in windows) you just move the stick to all extremes if you move it all the way over to your leg then you will have to do so to get max roll. Course if you move it only 1/2 the distance you get max roll at 1/2 the distance. It took me all of 2 days to get use to it and i think i have bettter control like this.

RWY

PS. Sob i modified the rudder pedals as well. They are 18" wide now. But i never really had any trouble with my leg getting in the way at any time.

Great setup RWY, doubt the wife would go for it though. I finally went out and bought a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. Expensive stick, but the $50.00 rebate made it attractive. Now if I can only figure out how to get the rudder to function with the sideways movement of the stick I'd be much better off. Any ideas?

i can do anything anyone else can with this setup. You are right about the B&Z style. Although most ppl that call themselves turn fighters hate to see me in anything other than my stang(Mrs. Mary Kathryn).

Take it back and get a Saitek X36/35 USB.

I got duped into that MS FFB BS once... worst two days of my imaginary flying life.  :)
