AI cap?
« on: July 13, 2001, 07:29:00 AM »
Lastnight got me thinking as I watched the Bish get gangbanged. It was so bad for them, we (rooks) rolled thru 5 or 6 fields before I even saw a bish. I was with the Knights until this tour so I know how frustrating that can be.

I was actually thankful the Knights started hittin' us up north because taking fields uncontested is rather boring for me. Actually, field capture is not an interest of mine. I'm here to fight aircraft, not watch buffs pork a field, then send goons in. BTW, this is not a shot at you who are into the strat and field capture. I value what you guys want. Heck, if it weren't for you, the fights would most likely be even fewer & far between. You're con magnets, lol.

Anyway, hows about an idea. AI cap. I'll lay out the initial concept and you guys either crash the idea all together or expand and refine, doesn't really matter.

For the sake of this debate, lets pick a number of aircraft outta the hat, say 5. They random spawn anywhere in the fields sector at a given altitude and continue to do so until the fighter hangars are down. Maybe base it on some logic such as amount of players or number of fields? <Shrugs>.

That's the jest of the idea and I'll leave it here, but I will add my views. The purist in me say's, nope, don't want any AI in this game. After thinking about that, however, I think, what kind of reason is that? The purist? Heck, we already have AI. Who says it has to be only on the ground? We already have concessions for game play. Is there anything wrong with that? I think not, as long as it is counter balanced and level for all. Heck, I come here to have fun & enjoy myself, to get lost in the AH virtual world (which BTW, if you ask the Death Rattlers, I'm good at gettin lost. Damn that east west thing), to unwind & forget about my troubles of the day and to enjoy the comraderie(SP) of the rest of you AH dweebs  :).

It looked like to me that the bish weren't having much fun and that really is what it's all about, right?

"we (rooks) rolled thru 5 or 6 fields before I even saw a bish"

Milk runs!!!!

 :)

I like the idea but at the same time I think if a base (or even an area with several bases) is not being used nor being defended why should someone retain it?

well... i never cared at all about field capture unless it was to attract a fite or get a field closer to the action but... I have allways felt it strange that all these fields were such "milk runs" for anyone with the patience to fly all that way.   Just more unrealistic bomber crap and "patience equals skill" lameness.

Maybe add a lot more ack to fields and make for some realistic accuracy for bombers.
