Do any of you use any ecommerce software, if so, which one, and how would you rate it - asking as thats my next venture in the webdesign world.

I run a few sites (about 12 different sites) and the best by far that i have used is bigcommerce they host and run the easiest way to run a e-site that i have ever used.
They are cheap and support is great, but the best part is its very good for SEO.
They are also very secure which is very important.

I have just started a new site selling electronic cigarettes, i have only spent around 10 hours so far and i would say with a few pics i will have the site finished in around 2 more hours.

I have used a few different types of e-commerce software and found that you have to pay as you get what you pay for, don't use free software like os commerce as it will take you months to sort out bugs, i pay $24 us a month with includes everything i need for a small site if you need more you can upgrade.

bigcommerce gives you a 15 free trial, i have set the site up %90 in the trial time, the trial is great as you can play and see how easy it is to setup, BTW i am not a reseller of bigcommerce just a happy customer.

Best of all with ecommerce i work from home, spend half my time fishing and still make more money that if i had a real job, love getting out of bed at 9am and drinking by 3pm its a hard life, i love the net!!!!!!

If you have any questions even though i have only just tried bigcommerce i maybe able to help.

Hiya Mijoieau, any limit on the amount of products on that? Asking, as I'm redoing a site for a friend, who sells multiple multiple items (if anyone wants anything cowboy wise, I'm yer man for contacts lol...)

Also, what backend does that use - sql, inbuilt db? Can I do a product upgrade using comma delimited files from excel (.csv for instance)?

I pay $24 a month for 100 products, but you can upgrade, it does have uploads for excel and others, the main part is its security and its SEO friendly, it blows most carts out of the water for SEO and running a website that's almost all that matters. Best way to find out how good it is would be to do the free trial for 15 days.
