As funny as it is, I can't blame the cop.. he probably just saw a guy fleeing the scene.. he didn't know if it was the one they were chasing or not.

In that case I would rather them erred in the side of caution.

He's darn lucky he wasn't shot.   Shots had already been fired, and he was fleeing the scene.

Well yes, that too.  But I meant by the cop.  The policeman who chased him initially demonstrated restraint and discernment in the midst of a firefight by not shooting him.

The department in Thornwood, N.Y. needs some of that.
