Two days ago I simply upgraded my mother board, a new vid card, and power supply from 240W to 450W (new power supply needed for new MB) and I am able to run maxed out graphics without a bit of frame rate loss.
AH is almost an entire new game. I too say "WOW!" 
HTC did a great job and I hope they continue to improve the eye candy. Now... about the gaps in the plane set. 
The new ATX power sockets on new motherboards are reverse compatible with the old style.
However, you probably would've needed roughly 450w for a newer generation graphics card anyway!
