I'm happy for Ron Washington.
Billy Beane interviewed Washington for the A's Coaching job
but hired his crony Bob Geren. Big mistake.
Washington is a great coach. He taught the A's infielders fundamentals and many
went on to earn gold gloves (ie. Miguel Tejada, Eric Chavez, Mark Ellis....to name a few) .
Geren doesn't have a clue when to
take out a starting pitcher or how to use the bullpen. Geren easily gave
away 25-30 games over the course of the season. Beane just gave Geren another
contract extension.

The A's have a good pitching staff and Ron Washington would have made the difference if he had been hired by Billy Beane.
Washington proved in the AL playoffs he knows how to manage his pitchers.
I hope the Rangers take the World Series in 4 games. He is a shoe in for Manager of the Year Award as well.

Glad to see them go. It's good for a team that's never been there. The excitement of the "first" is genuine and contagious.
It took The "Senators" :D long enough. Maybe my Orioles someday again, alas. And any team who beats the Yankees, is ok with me.

Congrats to Texas (I did actually live in Killeen for a few years, I know lucky me).

On behalf of all Texans I just want to say sorry about that.

Posted this in another thread...

I've never been much of a baseball fan. My wife is a lifelong Rangers fan. I used to hate summer because every night she was watching the Rangers on TV and it seemed to take forever for football season to come back around. I have to admit the last three years she's managed to get me to take interest. I was happy to see the Rangers win the ACLS for her sake. I hate to see the kind of loyalty my wife displays go un rewarded forever. So for Judy's sake...

GO RANGERS!
