how many are in the arena you play in?
100 for me seems small for a game that boasts "Aces High takes the art and science of vintage WWII air combat and sets it in an online high intensity environment where hundreds of players can battle it out with and against each other. "
my primetime does not live up to this boast
euros get a tough deal
its not a whine its a fact

When is the last time you saw those hundreds actually battling each other?  50 tend to be at one undefended field, while another 50 are attacking a different undefended field.

No problems at all getting into any arena of my choosing and just because you can't get into the one you want to doesn't mean the arena cap system is broken.

ack-ack

Just because things are working out so well for you, doesn't necessarily mean that things are working out so well for others...Caps are not broken, they are working just the way HTC designed them to.  That leads to the crux of the problem, does AH needs caps any more?

All to often the large orange map is capped at 100 peeps, which keeps it way underpopulated for fun play, while the caps is moving more peeps to blue.

Just because you do not run into problems it doesn't mean it is not broken.

I didn't quit because "I can't get into Orange" or "can't fly with my squad"

Caps once worked, even for my timezone. Now that numbers have changed significantly, they do not work anymore. They do not split 500 players into 300 and 200.. they split 140 into 100 (large map, locked) and 40. Once we had only a one hour dull time period after caps kicked in. Nowadays, it's often 4 hours or more... our whole evening. Only on weekends with higher base numbers it still works like it used to be.

And yes, for many of us that's a huge degradation in gameplay. And no, you don't have to be a basegrabbing horder if you are looking for more than a occasional 1v1 dogfight.

I agree they're fulfilling their designed role when there's 400 or so people on.  What about the times outside of US primetime where they're affecting relatively small populations?

I guess what I don't get is, if you've only got ~140 people wanting to be logged in, where's the issue letting them go where they want?  Those wanting a smaller, cozier experience can go to blue, those wanting to go with the numbers can go to Orange.

It just seems to me (admittedly, an outsider to HTC) that perhaps a tweak to the timing might be worth a look.

Please show any proof how the arena caps are broken.  You can't because it's not broken, end of story...dismissed.

ack-ack

they may not be broken , but they aren't in tune with client demand . this complaint is almost as old as the MA split . what i never understood is what are the caps doing to make gameplay better ? for me not a thing . makes it worse as far as i can see .

At least two. I logged in on Monday night around 10:0 EST and took me over an hour and searching on both maps just to find that.

Yes I coulda went to furball island but it doesnt present the type of fights I like to fight. Im not big on the free for all.

My other options were as someone else noted. Join our horde attacking an undefended base. Or get ganged by a horde attacking our undefended base.

Till the numbers start to improve. Its time to do away with either the Arena caps. Or the large maps. Possibly both. To be fair I've always been a fan of the large maps. But the current arena numbers make them now more of a liability then a asset.
