Large blocky pixel for distant cons ingame.
« on: October 24, 2010, 03:44:02 PM »
Very large blocky squares instead of single pixels for distant cons - sometimes overlaying a/c at close range - is there a setting for size of cons?

No, it sounds more like a graphics issue. What textures are you running in the game, and what kind of computer setup do you have (Dxdiag report is best)

I'm guessing an Intel graphics chip is involved...  If this is the case you're really going to need to upgrade (if you can) as the intel graphics are not designed for gaming, unless you consider "mine sweeper" to be an advanced graphics game...

I play while travelling mostly and it's on a 17 inch laptop with intergrated Graphics Media Accelerator HD - everything else runs pretty flawlessly except for this one issue which even then is not all the time - sometimes you see the normal specs for cons and others a large black square.

It sounds like an Intel video chip.  Make sure you set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256, or less.  That should help.

I'm flying the game with squares around planes too. It doesn't seem to effect drones, just main planes. When in closer, I notice the square essentially sits where the pilot is. So somehow related to pilot rendering? Played with all of the settings. Textures, lower resolutions etc. The squares pretty much stay there 90% of the time no matter what. So I've readjusted the settings/resolution to happy medium. Running at 60fps most of the time now.

It is an Intel HD chip, which I know is horrible, and I didn't expect much out of this laptop for gaming, but it honestly runs the game pretty well otherwise.  :aok
I doubt there's much I can do about it. The price for playing on a laptop with an intel hd.  Just thought I'd post here too.
