CH Products and XP
« on: December 06, 2001, 09:04:00 AM »
Howdy, anyone have any info on whether the older gameport (or even the newer USB) programming software will be available in a version that supports XP?  I've emailed their tech (non)support, with no answer.  Their wonderfully up to date tech support page lists WinME as the latest   :(

I haven't got the older Speedkeys to work, and would buy an X45 except it doesn't have working programable software either. (Though I seem to recall that the DirectX buttons can be set up inside of AH).

So, right now, I've got my older CH setup with an old AH setup programmed in - but would be nice to change it!  (And no, I dont want to reinstall o/s and setup a dual boot 98/XP just to program a joystick)

Cheers

Waiting for the same... but - XP correctly recognised all my CH gear - Fighterstick, Throttle and Pro Pedals (all USB). Which means that all DX buttons should work properly in AH.

I've heard that CH products don't work in XP, well atleast not the software for it... But it would be strange if CH isn't working on the matter, since XP is growing, and growing, and growing in popularity.   ;)

It didn't recognize my older gameport stuff though - so, not sure AH would see all the directX buttons, and I'm not going to clear the settings just to check.

(Hmm, X45 is looking better now)

Cheers

so here is my question, will the XP drivers work with win2K as well? anyone know?  I posted something about my problem which appears to be universal. Speedkeys doesnt work with XP and win2k. However strangely enough my pro throttle/combatstick/pro ped's worked with win2K for several months, but the template was loaded in the gear while using win98. When I installed win2K, it just worked. I said cool and and never looked back till the other day when my gear didnt work.  I am having fits at the thought of purchasing a new setup...especially not CH! I love my CH stuff.

-ammo-  are you running USB or gameport? I have a sweet CH setup but it is gameport and people are saying it just wont work with XP. I just bought a USB Saitek x45 but I already miss my CH stuff.  I really dont want to buy the whole setup again in USB b/c it is just to expensive.

Let me know if you find any info I REALLY dont want to do a dual boot.

thanks

<S> coop.

I am using all analog stuff, not the USB. My gear is 3 years old.  I guess it just worked with win2K initially because the pfw file was previously loaded in the throttle. Now why all of the sudden the throttle dumped the file and left me stranded..well..your guess is good as mine. I am going to call CH tech support tommorow and ask them for guuidance and possible CH solutions (usb, combinations, etc..).  But it looks like either they figure something out pretty quick, or alot of guys will be going with the new thrustmaster cougar. Thats what i wil most likely do unless Ch comes up with something quick.
