Now that I have your attention...

I want to be sure I properly install my 4-in-1 drivers for my system. I have an ECS K7VTA3 motherboard (alright, alright, I'm on a budget here) and running XP pro. Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.

From everything I've read and my personal experience, you don't need to use the 4-in-1 drivers for XP. I've been running the beta and final version of XP without them with no problem.

XP has the the 4 in 1 drivers built in. It will load them when you install XP.

After all done with XP just have a look at via's site for the latest, They are self installers now so after saving em just click on to install n the dirty deeds done

Does xp update auto you mean or just that a set of via's are built in to the actual xp build ?

A set of Via drivers are built in. I have not looked at the driver numbers but I belive they are very recent builds. let me look now.

Ok Via CPU to AGP Controller is showing a date of 7/1/2001 and the publisher is showing as Microsoft. The other are showing the same date and publisher. This concerns me a little since it does not show the publisher as Via. BUT, the system is rock solid and I'm getting 5 to 10 % increase in FPS with win XP in AH and OFP.

IN closing, There are 4 in 1 drivers that XP installs THAT CAME WITH WIN XP ( I HAVE FULL PRO VERSION. DID INSTALL ON A CLEAN HD) Who the publisher is I can't say for sure. Should you upgrade to what ever the newest Via 4 in 1's are? Well my advice to my customers in my shop is " if it ain't broke , don't fix it". My personal moto is " tinker till you really screw it up then reinstall" It's up to you.

If what I've heard is correct (haven't messed with xp yet) WinXP includes the 4.34 or perhaps the newest 4.35 drivers.
www.viahardware.com usually has the newest set first.
