I'm really digging Ubuntu. I installed it for my web development server, and created a Lamp server within about 3 hours. The longest was the downloading, I'm on DSL. I started off with the LAMP server side, but blew it away for the desktop version. 32bit btw. Heard about bugs in the 64 bit side. And some applications don't run in 64 bit mode, like gimp. Well more or less the add ons for gimp don't. Anyway extremely pleased with the setup. The front end is kick arse. The DVD issue was really a no brainer with a google search. Just found out I had to install additional packages. Which now is so simple. I used to always have to ./config make and compile install, wasn't that much of a pain for me, but alot of non techy types this would be a hassle. This is so much easier. The biggest thing for me though is I can keep my windows system clean, and reserve it for gaming (AH) while a reboot brings me into a development environment. EXTREMELY PLEASED with that. Also has all the hardware drivers for my machine too, how kewl.
Anyway I'll be using this for awhile. As a matter of fact using it right now, its also my new browser, I I have no fear of going to a questionable site anymore.
Anyway Rock on Ubuntu.
on a side note though. If anyone is doing any web work I would highly recommend installing PHP5.2 and not 5.3 Some packages are not up to par yet, like Drupal.
Cheers
