how do you find what vid card you have

can any one tell how to find this out as i have not got a clue

watch the screen when your computer boots, the video BIOS is displayed then. Or under Win98 look under control panel/display/settings/advance.
Or open your computer case

NHMadmax you could also try running dxdiag.exe and look under the display tab

Go to control panel -> system -> device manager tab -> click display adapters -> you should see what you have, try clicking it and picking properties for more info.

Here's something else you can try.  Right click the desktop.  This should pop up a box with a properties at the bottom.  Pick properties, settings tab, advanced button, adapter tab.  This should give you some info.

You may also get some information through system information.  Click start, go to accessories, system tools, system information (this is for win98, and isn't always installed)  You can find out just about anything using this program.
