To many ground troops in WWII and Korea what was considered the most lethal plane that ever flew. Only about 3000 were ever made and when theenemy saw it in the area everything stopped. Name me that plane.

Corkys P38,  because when he was flying it, there were more parts falling off at terminal velocity than a fleet of B29s ords.

Second guess would be the Soviet TU series that flew for the Allies in WWII, then flew for the North Koreans in the Korean Conflict.

Yes Uptown you are indeed correct. A few days ago I was watching the Military history channel and saw a 2 hour special called "the little bird that did". I was totally amazed at what these planes actually did during the war. These planes actually landed with a special devise on ships that hung out to the side and was caught with a special hook then traveled down a cable till it stopped. The L bird also took off the same way. The Navy even converted an LST into an L bird carrier. If you haven't seen it yet you can most likely see it if you go to militarychannel.com I highly recommend it.

The B-29 saw action over Korea but it's rather up for debate on how effective it was other than being very effective in being torn apart by the MiG's cannons.  The MiG had pretty much rendered the B-29 obsolete, so much so that the B-29 had to be flown at night as a defense against the MiG.

Combat Officer: A Memoir Of The War In The South Pacific by Charles H. Walker.  It's a nice days read.

One thing though that did stick out was his opinion about the Filipino guerrillas in which his opinions were a marked difference between Iliff David "Rich" Richardson's experience as a guerrilla fighting with the Filipinos as detailed in the book "American Guerrilla in the Philippines".

Thanks I'll have to check it out, I know the Philippine Guerrilla's made quite a bit of difference to more than a few airmen during the campaign.
