Changing Field Guns
« on: November 21, 2010, 08:06:44 AM »
Been doing some field gun work lately, and was thinking if there was a way to switch guns.

Basically it would work like this. your in a field gun on one end of the field, and you want to switch into another one on the opposite side of the field. Well, instead of ending sortie, why not push a button to switch, kinda like the gunner positions on the bombers. Have all guns assigned a number and you would be able to swith around the field like that. But if someone is in it obovously you cant switch to that gun. I would say there would be limit on it though, may be once you switch to a different gun, a timer of 5 minutes before you are allowed to switch to another one. This could some how be implemented to carriers, but say 15 minutes for them. Anyways, just a Idea, what do you guys think :bolt:

NO, I think field guns account for sufficient easy kills as it is without being able to dodge around the field into different guns, in reality it would take you a good couple of minutes to cross an airfield at a run and man another gun.

Mind you, switching between guns without towering would allow you to land massive tallies of kills. :devil

I have to agree with Danny.

If your in a gun and you see a tiffy diving in on you, guns blazing, being able to switch to a different gun would be too easy.

Besides, its not like the tiffy even gets a kill when he kills that gun.
Which is a change I would like to see. Killing someone in a manned gun, be it ship, or field should give you the kill.

i like the idea but ppl would use it the worng way mabey it would take you 15sec to switch guns so if a plane was attacking you it could already be gone by time you switch guns

i also agree with danny, and i'm a field gun dweeb.

however, getting a kill for killing a manned gun, well, then the manned gunner better start getting something more than just name in lights. i.e. perks or some sort of score.

If you are talking about points for soft gun work I don't believe so.

I all see your points and I see where your comming from, now here is another point. If it is so easy for field gunners, wouldnt it be the same for bomber gunners. Its easy mode to just switch between gunners in a bomber in a instant, why not do it for field guns. I am just curious what the difference is between gunners on a field and gunners in a bomber. Both serve the same purpose, to defend

Field guns are each individual "planes/gvs".  You don't man the entire field when you man a field gun.

Think of it as a static gv.
