Arena tweaking, a comment.
« on: November 21, 2010, 01:29:35 PM »
Why would there be an off hours arena on a weekend when most people are off of work and play AH.

I think that the arena idea is grand and I hope to see it stay, but I think HTC should keep caps on the weekends to prevent the hordlet behavior that is happening in the arenas right now.

Keep the caps around 250 for each, I would like to at least get off my runway for a few seconds at a time.

All fields are under constant attack? Don't think so... ;)

So if the cap will be activated when most people are playing at prime time why not on the weekends when all day is prime time for people to be playing?  :headscratch:

Ive been player for a bit over two years now and it seems like its the same old arguments over and over. Cap, no cap, furball , base capture. I'm sure its been brought up before but Ive missed it. How come they dont just have two LW arenas?  A smaller map with smaller distances and less airfields so furballers can just furball all day and a larger more realistic map so the strategic base capture and "win the war" crowd can play without the two sides allways fighting each other over what is best and who is right. Then on Tuesdays have TT.

Just a thought let the flames begin.

(Image removed from quote.)

Only 3 of those "under attack" could possibly be difficult to take off from. I see 6 airfields you can easily take off at, unless a single con in the dar circle makes you hide in the tower  :neener:

What this thing with the caps anyway? some psychological theory about too many people fighting will lead to murder?? i hate the caps.. i am a university student.. and i'm on my hols...i am so bored on weeekdays i wake up at 7am aus time to play..during that time... the cap fluctuates, from 100, to 200, to 300 then when you're having fun, the host disconnects you and when you try to return... they cap the arena to 100....so the number of players would be 299/100... do you know how long it takes before you can join that same arena and fight the same battle you were fighting?. sometimes i wonder if anyone from hitech actually sits down and play the number of hours we usually put in. i am actually ok with the arena change... but the cap on the players stinks to high hell... i have not heard microsoft capping their xboxlive players in any arena, the way hitech does it... is really amatuerish!

That particular map has always drawn a huge crowd in that area depicted. It's not hardly
as bad as it appears; just a huge stalemate area which actually has some great
furballs around it all the time.

this

and most maps have their weaker positions and no matter what chess piece is put there they will suffer.  You tend to notice this more if you rotate teams because the loyal types automatically assume it is only them that get a rough deal ALL the time  ;)

The fights that night were truly spectacular all over the map and IMO what AH is all about.  A MMO WW2 combat game not some boring milkrun with no opposition   :old:

I have to admit it felt like the days of old to me (not the old old, just the 5 year old ;)). No worrying if I can get online before the caps kick in, not facing a 20 player arena, just going online anytime I want and simply play. And after 23:00 I could even choose if I wanted to play on a large map with relative lower player density or stay in a smaller, but more tightly packed arena.

And I'm still amazed by the relatively little opposition against this change. I was expecting a storm...  :uhoh

In my opinion, for us european players this new arena system is big improvement. I know things may look different in your side of ocean, but in here (GMT+2) this new system allows much more fights and also now we Finns can all fly in same arena together, which was nearly impossible earlier. I have to admit that sometimes it is frustrating when enemy have total air superiority but more frustrating is when there is no fight at all.

Most people just sign in and play the game.  Most don't come here to biznatch.  And for most of us, the changes are so nearly meaningless as to be, well, meaningless.  So I'm not really surprised that it hasn't raised much of a ruckus.  It's a better solution that fits more of the player base than what we had, without much of any way to construe it as a negative for those it doesn't help.

Lusche,

Some of us in the States can feel your (outside the US) pain that has transpired for ages in this game since the arena caps were instituted!  I sincerely hope that this helps you folks overseas get some more bang for your buck and finally get your monies worth!

All the Best...
