How to Shoot Down Santa Claus

OK team, here's the situation:

We have an unknown flying into our airspace at around 0:00, 24 December.  We need your help in identifying, tracking, and neutralizing the target.  My plan:

1.) Up a flight of 1/2 P38's and 1/2 Spit VIII's with maximum fuel and DT's, then patrol the map, waiting for the unknown to show up.

2.) When it does, have half of the flight dive down around it (out of icon range), and form an 'anvil' of A/C below it

3.) Then, have the other half dive in, guns blazing, and smash the unknown against the 'hammer'

you know there are a few problems with this part.
A) half of an airplane won;t fly
B) impossible to take maximum fuel in half of an airplane, or both DT's

2.) When it does, have half of the flight dive down around it (out of icon range), and form an 'anvil' of A/C below it
if you've managed to get this far with half of an airplane, you won't make it to #3.....they'll all lawndart. 

3.) Then, have the other half dive in, guns blazing, and smash the unknown against the 'hammer'
