I for one will show up flying my Dr1 for the Kaiser.  Nothing like a thanksgiving weekend turkey shoot of camels.

RedPower

Prill is that you? Priller of F2B fame? Surely not.... Prill would never cross the lines, change his name and fight for the other side. I must be mistaken  :headscratch:

Anyway, the Kaiser ate too much sauerkraut and died. Your sacrifice will be in vain. History has already shown us which way this contest ends.... if you value your skin lay down your arms and stay at home with the good lady frau und kleiner kinder. Those who oppose us will be shown no mercy, merely hot lead, cold dirt and the urine of wild goats as they graze the meadows where the fallen come to earth :old:

Thanks to everyone who came along  :salute There was no clear advantage to either side after 2 and a half hours of intense dogfighting. Awesome spectacle, fantastic flying on both sides. Anyone who didn't bag a load of kills do not think for one minute that you let your team down. Everyone there was pulling their weight and had an impact on the outcome.

Special mention to Sid who stayed up through the European night to fight alongside us in our Camels. And I have to add (sorry to be so partisan) that the Allied team in their (mostly) Camels and F2B's flew like demons. When you look at the day to day stats for the Dr1 and the Camel/F2B you would never predict a stalemate like the one we experienced, especially since numbers were about even. Fine job guys :salute

There were many requests to organise more events like this, so stay tuned. I'll throw some ideas around during normal ops and see what ideas come out of it.

I have films for much of the event, no doubt others have also. If anyone specialises in making movies from AH films and wants to do something with them please let me know.

Thanks again, great fun  :x

I've been advised by someone who checked the stats immediately prior to and after our sweep that in fact the Camels shot down one a/c for every two lost. The Dr1's on the other hand shot down two for every one lost. This certainly wasn't evident during the event, it seemed to be blow for blow, and at times we had the opposition pushed right back to their field - something we never experienced. Possibly we were pushing harder and suffering greater losses. But the stats apparently confirm what we already knew, the Dr1 is a deadly little machine, way more effective than you might expect. Only fair to mention that some of them were being flown by experts  :salute

Should have mentioned before, not only Sid but also Shotdown stayed up half the night to fly with us. Great effort.

Was a fun night, i am somewhat supprized to hear the DR1 was kept to a 2 to 1 ratio, (wtg Camels) i know my numbers were nowhere near that, i prolly died 5 times to get one kill, Ehre is pretty much invincible in a DR1, unless you sneak up on him which is just as difficult

don't let it bug you Camel jockeys, you can be proud that it was kept interesting against those little pesky DR1's

Here's a quick movie of the first contact of the event.... I've posted a link in the appropriate forum but hopefully nobody will mind me putting it here also.

Another big  :salute to all who attended, one of the more enjoyable sessions for me at least. It was a special pleasure for me, to have two Skeleton Crew wingmen there... SCBilly and SCASP. It's been a few years since we upped into that sort of trouble

I was sweating in the cockpit when I saw the first wave of camels approaching .. it was an impressive sight.

The event was a success and it was a lot of fun regardless of the outcome ... <S>  :aok
