Question: Got Windows 98...upgrade to Win2kPro?

I do not have Windows 98 SE, just the previous one with all the regular.

I have a copy of Windows 2000 Pro staring at me, and I'm wondering with these specs, its worth it...

P3 500
384mb PC100 Crucial RAM
40gb IDE HDD
Voodoo 5500 AGP 64mb
SoundBlaster 16 (ISA)
MS Sidewinder Pro

etc etc

I'm reading more and more how everyone loves 2k for Aces, and wondering if its the way to go for my box.

I have a similar question. I was on XP (had just completed a full install, NTFS format) and loaded up AH. Crash to desktop every time. I wound up formatting and reinstalling 98. I have Win2K and am wondering if that might be ok. To be honest, I am tired of the instability of 98.

I'm not having any trouble with 98, but with 384mb of RAM, I know NT/2k would make better use of it than 98 does.

i was a early version of wincrack 98 and it was constantly giving me fits. I rebooted my machine to keep it running. I took sanchos advice and laoded win2K...that was 8 weeks ago and not ONE crash yet. The install is super easy too. First, make sure your important hardware is compatible, actually Win2K installer will tell that first, before it proceeds. Its automatic. It will produice a printable report. All my stuff is compatible. I was running a P3 500, 384 Mb of SDram, geforce2. Win2K is the best MS OS  IMO

Arrrgh!

Got numerous kernel32.dll errors.  Guess what?  Win2K doesnt like some of the DLLs in QuickBooks.  After a search of the MS Knowledge Base, they identified which DLLs and the install is proceeding now (checking drives part).

Claims I need new drivers for, well, pretty much everything.  But, Im hoping Service Pack 2 fixes that!
