Windows sees the stick fine? What DX version do you have? Should be 7A. Also, try deleting the file  stick.cfg   from one of the  AH  folders, then start-up AH and let it "discover" the stick.

HI RedBaron

Me and my friend both have sidewinder3d pro's and are both using win98 systems.  We both couldn't get the sidewinderpro to work in aceshigh.  Downloaded the newest sidewinder3d pro driver (swgameen 6.745kb) which said install it, if you have problems then install sw3dpro.vxd (12kb) and it should work.  (make backup copy of the file being replaced just encase)
My friend did it, and his works with all button functions.
I still can't get mine to work with all buttons and my game gets a little choppy.

I can still use my sidewinder3d pro minus the 4 bottom buttons if I set it up as
CH FLIGHTSTICKPRO (enable rudders).  Computer finds the joystick will no problems.

I have no problems in the game other than the fact that I'm no good haha.

NOTE! I think the site he got the drivers from was http://www.microsoft.com/sidewinder/  not sure.

Good Luck!

I forgot to mention that I tried the sidewinder3d pro with dx7 no luck.

I now have dx8 and still can get it to work properly.

CH FLIGHTSTICKPRO is the only way so far for me.

In talking with the tech support at Microsoft I found out this about the 3d Pro.
1. It is no longer produced for the last year
2. There are problems with it working digitally on systems with 100mhz bus speed or faster
3. There is no fix for it other than trying the new .vxd.  And that only works sometimes

Mine worked great on my P2 450 but would only work analog on my new AMD 800 Tbird
I had to buy a new MS Prec Pro 2 USB.  It works awesome. Just takes some getting used to

Rocket, did you need to use the VIA USB patch to get it to work?

I've had a hell of a time getting my SW 3d Pro to work with win 9x.  Finally upgraded to Windows 2000 and works like a charm.  FWIW.
