Red Bull also have a polished bare metal B-25 & P-38 with Red bull & logo on the nose. It wouldn't be my choice, but if thats all it takes for a major corporation to keep these aircraft cared for and in the air, then so be it.

So I guess you guys that are all hating on the paint scheme's would rather not see these planes in the air at all.. I give the red bull guys credit as these are extreemly expensive machines, and they decided to rebuild these aircraft for all to see.. I couldn't care less if red bull is on the side of the airplane as long as the airplane is in the air where it belongs..  :airplane:

QFT X2...glad to see these birds in the air.

Anyone else notice the 38 in GT5 isn't the same type of 38 as the real one?

It is, just without the modifications. The RB P-38 is the old 'White Lightnin'- P-38L with smaller chin radiators like on the pre-J versions and the supercharger ram-air scoop relocated to the top of the boom.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Red Bull's 38 is indeed the old White Lightning.  It does not have a ram air intake for a turbo as it does not have a working turbo.  Those are the air intakes for the carburetor is all.  Nelson Ezell made all that by hand.  I saw him working on it frequently when I was down there with our bird.

One of the planes we have at my museum was completely funded by 84 Lumber. Its a Fairchild F24C. So for them, we are going to repaint it in the livery that their F24 was in during WW2 and its named after the CEO's Daughter, "Magie's Pride". We also might have a John Deere painted Funk B in the future. John Deere bought the company back in the 40's or maybe it was the 50's and we are trying to get them to do the same type of thing as 84 Lumber did.

I'd be interested to see how he intends to get in that thing without a ladder :D

I got to see the B-25 at Istanbul a few years, was quite impressive.  And that P-38 is beautiful  :aok
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

WRONG. I simply stated that it made me sad. Sad to see planes that I would like to see restored to their original looks rather than look like a flying billboard. I am glad to see them flying, God knows I am. That is my opinion.

+1, I think what Red Bull has done it as good as you can get for having your financial sponsor's logo balanced with the historic legacy of an aircraft.  At this point, Lady Gaja could fund the restoration of a B-XX or P-XX and paint it solid hot-pink as far as I care, just as long as she keeps supporting the good cause and helps keep it flying.

Funny, I was thinking almost the exact same thing.
