I guess that I just hold a special place in my heart for Pete. In this day and age when so many "superstars" are clearly nothing more than phonies, to bar a man that played every game like it was game 7 of the World Series just seems wrong.

I fully appreciate the fact that what he did was against the rules, but I feel that had the commissioner not hated him so much things would have been different. I mean really, how many alcoholics and users are already in the hall? People will say that it wasn't their fault, that they had a "sickness" in the form of addiction.

Well guess what, some say that gambling is an addiction as well and that Pete also had a "sickness".

Charlie Hustle is already in the Hall of Fame at my house. He always will be.

Gambling is gambling, regardless of what form.

Kirk Gibson and Sparky Anderson had a bet in the dugout before Gibby hit a homer in the 84 WS.

Banning Rose, Jackson and Cicotte for life is hypocritical.  The other WS fixers were more shady.

Also in the case of Jackson, he was illiterate.  He had not a clue of what was said to him prior to getting the money.  He rarely spoke to any teammates because of a 5th grade dropout education.  There are only 6 known autographs by him and if you saw them, you'd understand he was screwed over.

He was a great player. He just was not very smart. He tarnished the game offsetting anything he ever did for it.

Rules were setforth for everyone.

Not for everyone.  Hornsby was taking loans out from the Cards owner and was caught twice in the act.

He suffered from heel spurs his entire career.  But the first place he went to after getting off of the bus, was the racetrack.  Estimations of almost $750,000 in loans have been discovered.  That's about $3 mill in today's cash.

He still got in, even after countless meeting with Mountain Landis.

Ticks me off too.

For crying out loud, Roger Maris has an asterisk next to his name because he broke Babe Ruth's record in a longer season. How can they even LIST records from the steroid era?

He "was" the greatest ever. noone will ever come close to his accomplishments. <pre-death of his trainer>. He put fear in grown men eyes like they were back in kindergarten hiding from the class bully. I remember watching him box when i was a youngen with my pops. man those were the days. i remember he knocked a guy out in a few seconds HAHAHHA. yes he deserves the Hall of Fame as for stallone  :x not even close to a Legit Boxing Hall Of Fame nominee.

I think Buster Douglas was better.

And on a related note, Ali shouldn't be in there either as he skipped out on the draft. Let Canada honor him in their Hall of Famous war deserters.

Totally uncalled for Uptown,it's not Canada's fault many young men went there to avoid a draft. Canada has a strong history off supporting friends and neighboors in times of war.
