asus p5nt-deluxe/w7 ultimate 64 bit/nvidia drivers

I am getting random crashes and freezes constantly on my pc sometimes it runs fine for 2 or 3 days only to start locking up again,Ive tried everything I can think of and most things other people have recommended all to no avail.
From what Ive read this could be an nvidia driver issue and I wondered if anyone is running a stable but similar system to mine what nvidia drivers they are using ?

Everything in bios is at default apart from recommended ram timings and voltage.Thanks,

Would be helpful if you told which operating system you use, which antivirus / tweaks you have appliet etc.

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit/firewall switched off everything else at default.
avast av
latest mb bios and chipset drivers
clean install only AH2,X52 throttle,Trackir 4 with 5 beta software,logitech extreme 3dpro,saitek pedals all with latest drivers.

Before reading further take my recommendation right here! Visit your boards manufacturers support forum and see what the overclockers have to say about it before trying any of this. In fact... visit a ton of boards to learn more. You can probably get stable by removing two DIMMs and you wont even know their gone (probably) so try that first to see if it helps. I believe (but Im not sure) that the more stable slots on your MB are the black ones but try it both ways AND make sure you turn your system off and remove the power cord from the PSU before removing the RAM. Also make sure you use the wrist strap thingie so you dont zap your RAM. If you dont understand any of that just stop reading right now... take the blue pill... live with instability.... so on.

First off you have 8 GB of memory installed. So this problem crops up in a lot more systems today than even a year ago because salesmen are really pushing 64 bit OSs and extra memory (that you dont need). Most manufacturers of RAM publish speed recommendations based upon two modules installed instead of four. So probably thats where your instability is coming from. If thats the case you should loosen the memory timings and use a burn-in program like OCCT to test for stability. You may not have to even add any voltage but usually the SPP-MCP bridge will require one step more of juice (Im not real familiar with your particular board so I cant recommend numbers) and even though I hate to put it in 'type' if you go from two DIMMs to four you probably will have to increase the RAM voltage one notch as well (but read further).

I can say that if memory timings are recommended at 4-4-4-12 you will want to increase them to 5-5-5-15 and if thats not stable 6-6-6-18 and so on until it stabilizes. If you get three steps looser and you havent found a stable point yet you COULD try upping the voltage one step on the RAM and starting over from the beginning. Voltage is not a real friend to RAM so dont get crazy with it. The second you move voltage off of recommendations of the manufacturer you should be prepared to kiss your warranty good bye. Temperatures will climb on the RAM but unless you have heat from another device pouring right onto the DIMM slots they should be alright. I have never seen memory get that hot even when I tried to cook them by overclocking by as much as 50% (dont do it that was just an experiment). Anyway... manufacturers can tell that the modules have seen higher voltages so dont think for a second you can hide it. Also... I have seen situations where adding the extra DIMMs also causes the CPU to need more voltage. The Core 2 Quads are famous for this and I would bet the i7s are too.

The ram timings are set to 5-4-4-15 voltage to 2.2v ocz specs. I have tried it with 2 sticks as well as using 2 and 4 1gb sticks all with the same result.I dont think this is a memory issue.
I have visited asus website forums and toms and as far as I can figure this is an nvidia driver issue,unfortunately I have tried the various drivers people have recommended and none have cured the problem that being said allthough some had a similar system to mine none were that close.

Anti-virus programs interfere with AH, cause crashes and can corrupt the game files according to Skuzzy. Turn off Avast if you can or uninstall it. If you continue to have crashes after that you can try reinstalling AH.

Run memtest86 on the system and see.  Its a free app.  Make a CD/DVD and boot from it and let it run.  The longer the better.
