40GB IBM and Win98
« on: November 12, 2001, 02:53:00 AM »
Hello..

Last Friday I build in a second 40GB IBM HD.

In Bios Autodetect the Hd is identiefied correctly....

But in Win 98 the HD do not apear.

I let run hardware detect, also I delete all hd controllers and let windows find them again....HD do not show up...

Hd is correctly jumpered as slave...

A friend tell me that win 98 only will accept Hds below 32GB, is this correct???

I think when the Bios find the HD in auto detect there can nothing be wrong with it, also I hear the spin up of the hd at system start...

Any ideas???

Did you run FDISK and formatted the drive?

Bios will detect it, but unless you set the partitions active and format it the OS won't reckognize the drive.
