Points, perks, rank, score. In General
« on: December 14, 2010, 06:43:51 AM »
I know scores, rank have little meaning and such, but something that would be an interesting twist.
How about awarding points on type of fight. I know it would probably be too much as far as programming,
but here it is.
Points/perks; Kills from picks, vulches, 3(or more)v1, bomb & bails, etc. Fit in lower scoring category. ( less points awarded for kill).
I think by adding this to scoring, it would improve the scoring system overall, making people actually fight, not just work on scores.
Spawn camping could be similar. If within certain range of enemy spawn (ie 3k), points awarded would be less.
Attacking undefended bases, same thing- less points.
Just a thought. But then again, who cares about it, lol.

I just don't think this is needed. There are not that many people here who care about their score that much that they will change their tactics to get a higher score.

I understand you don't like people picking you or running that's because they want to survive and are not good at dogfighting, doing things like this already hurts their score because their kills/hour of flight drops. I will say the same thing for bomb & bail, anyone who bombs just to get their score up will not bail because it will hurt their score. As far as spawn camping & vulching go...well...JUST DON'T SPAWN THERE! Always amazes me how many times people will spawn in the same place until they finally realize that they keep getting killed.
Your complaining about attacking undefended bases? I believe HTC made this hard enough with the new radar setting and the new towns.

I understand where your trying to go with this ozrocker but it's just not needed.

Oh, I could care less if I get picked, or however back to tower :)

I can imagine no way for the software to discern a "pick" from a more "legit" kill. What would happen in a furball, were the majority of kills could be described as "picks"? And bomb'n' bailers are not interested in score anyway, else they wouldn't bail - you already get lesser score from that.

They should disgard the term "winners" on the main page.

I could think of many other terms to use, but winners isn't one of them.

I think it's a nice way to say "congrats!" to somebody who cared their way into 1st place score wise. I think it's worth remembering that "1st" in score doesn't always mean best in, lets say, personality.

I agree, its fine to put the names up there.

But to use the word "winners" is kinda funny. I think using the words "Top Monthly Rankings" might be more appropriate.

I think using the word "winners" implies that there is some sort of contest going on.

I really couldn't care less if they keep using it, it was merely an observation.

Grizz and SHawk or both good guys who I see on the front page pretty often.
