here is a run with my original GeForce2 Ultra.
Lower scores with this card than the Radeon 8500 but i do get better fps with this card than the 8500 in AH.

I'm the first to admit I don't really understand all the subtle changes one can make to increase speed.

However, while reading this thread I was sharp enough to see that just about everyone using a GF2 card like I do is getting MUCH FASTER SCORES with equal or even "lesser" CPU's than I am.

Can  that has a good grasp of this stuff take a look at my report and tell me if they see something I should change to get better AH FPS performance?

Thanks!

Toad, not really sure how to help, but if you look at your "3D marks" for your CPU speed you will see that they are a fair amount lower than other people running comparable CPUs.  Don't know the reason but it looks like the most likely culprit.

I agree your CPU marks are terrible you sure you got 1400 mhz ?

TOAD i would suggest you read my post below and try temporariy disabling any onboard cards you have especially a sound card or disable any inbuilt sound card as some of these have a very high cpu utilisation, then run 3dM and see if your cpu scores jump try all cards one at a time, hopefully if one of them makes a big difference to your cpu score you will know what needs replacing.
tried it once with a SB card and an Aureal 3d sound card the difference was huge, in fact the Aureal sound card knocked AH fps down from about 30 to 22 on my spare comp.
Some of these cards can be a real cpu hog.

why does my CPU scores change when I test differnet vcards with the same CPU?

Like Toad, the majority of this report is Greek to me  :)

Well maybe some vid cards require more cpu cycles to run em ?
Also things that will reduce your 3Dmark scores are ANY hardware or programs running.
Modems, network cards etc all use cpu cycles all the time whether you are actually using them or not.
So if you really want your best score people remove everything or build bare systems just for testing.
Thats getting waaay to geeeky tho, so a much easier option is go into device manager and select any onboard cards and temporarily disable them, (NOTE i said DISABLE them by putting the red cross next to them NOT remove them) run your tests and re enable them after, takes a few minutes but can add quite a few points to your score just because your cpu rating will rise.
All because you are disabling the onboard cards which draw cpu cycles to monitor there activity.
But i suspect what you are seeing is the different cpu utilisation of the differing video cards, the gef2 ultra is using more cpu cycles than the radeon giving you lower 3DM scores but who cares when it gives you better in game frame rates ?
Of course i could be wrong but it seems highly plausible to me   :)

Yeah, I see that the CPU marks are way low.

On boot up, the CPU shows as "Athlon XP 1600+" and it shows the same way in Accessories/System Information.

I bought it from Googlegear as that item and it arrived in a sealed box showing Athlon XP 1600+.

So, yeah, I THINK it is correct.

The system is just for AH and has:

Athlon XP 1600+
Asus A7V266KT266 MB
512 of Micron PC 2100 RAM
CL SB Live Value
eVGA GeF2GTS 32MB
Dlink 10/100 Fast Etherlink Network Card
IBM Deskstar 40GB 7200 RPM

That's all that's running in there. I did test it with all cards enabled, just the way I would be running AH.

Any suggestions?

here is a Nforce system I put together for my brother. This is usi9ng a MSI K7N420 pro MB, and I am using the onboard sound and graghics. processor is an athlon XP1600, using crucial DDR PC2100 RAM. No PCI cards installed whatsoever. The scores are kind of anemic IMO, however I believe this system would run Aces High acceptible.

OS is win2k service pack 2.
