man, right now there's more planes than pilots literally.  add 2 more planes and it will be 2 times the number of planes per pilot.

I LOVE the SPADXIII.  Its a beautiful plane.  I respect the SE5a.

However, the real problem with the WWI arena is not that it is lacking some particular plane;
its that it is lacking any semblance of purpose.

We just need one more plane.......a fast one that can extend so there are
Boom and Zoom pilots in the arena.

Both mentioned planes have 2 forward shooting guns.

The Lewis gun on the SE5a can also be tilted
upward to shoot the Bristol F2b's from below,
out of the reach of the rear gunner.
That is a very nice option. :D

With a fast plane in the mix, the Dr1 won't be everyone's first choice.

I can understand the lack of new a/c and the refusal to move the WW1 arena away from simple furballing. A combination of the apparent lack of interest and the difficulty producing new a/c, and HiTech sticking to his guns re the original stated purpose of the arena are probably the main causes. Fair enough. But what I don't get is why we still have the same 3 country system with all a/c available to all countries. AKWabbit points out correctly that the arena lacks purpose. Dammit you can get kindy kids to riot with the old 'blue eyes, brown eyes' dichotomy, I'm pretty sure that with just two countries - Axis and Allies - and with the appropriate a/c availability for each side, there would not only be a more historical flavour but natural partisan rivalry would take hold, and therefore a new purpose.

This simple fix, I suspect, could be had with a few quick tweaks of the arena settings. If everyone keeps wishing for stuff that just isn't on offer then nothing will change. What I'm proposing will make a difference, it could fail but it could also increase interest and activity in there. That would be a first step to getting some of the other goodies, but it's going to need more than just my occassional whining to have the idea implemented.

Just to make that perfectly clear, I'm proposing the WW1 arena have a trial period as a 2 country Axis vs Allied setup. You might want to drop a quick '+1' below, or carry on wishing for Zeppelins, SE5a's, Gotha bombers and 0400's. Who knows, maybe HiTech has a few laying around spare somewhere

I still remember the flying cigar air raids. They were too fun to ignore. :D

The WWI Arena has a new Damage Model. That ol' cigar would have to be upgraded.   :D
I'll bet the new planes are more expensive to make too.

I did some tankin' in the Main the other
night and after two sorties.....my rank was 3,996  LOL.
There must be over 4,000 pilots in the main on a regular basis.

Our numbers in WWI just don't compare.   :cry
