X-52 not being recognized by programming software
« on: December 14, 2010, 08:56:00 PM »
Trying to get back into AH, but it seems like every component is giving me some grief!

After getting the computer itself going fine, I'm suddenly having problems with the Saitek X52 and software, that I've used for years. In fact, the thing was working just fine until I unplugged all cables and did a CPU/MB cleaning. Prior to that, I was actively reprogramming the stick to get my preferences back to where I liked them years ago. (I know I can do MOST of this inside AH, but I like using the mouse stick for moving the seat rather than as a mouse - and AH mapping won't let you do that.)

Anyway, before the SD6 software that replaced the SST (and thereby made all my saved profiles useless) was at first seeing the stick fine and letting me map away. The Profiler software was loading as I booted, and I could have it load the profile in the system tray with a click.

Since unplugging all the USBs when I cleaned the box out, the SD6 will not connect to the stick. Windows itself will see the stick, recognize it as an X52, and calibrate fine. All buttons work, etc. But since the Saitek software does not see the stick, it will neither load the profiler into the tray nor recognize button pushes inside the SD6.

Any thoughts about getting the darn thing working again?

(PS Saitek won't let any new posts into their BBS, and I can't get their customer service page to load in any browser.)

It's because it's on a different USB Bus.. just reinstall the drivers.. you should be fine

I should also note that the X52 is VERY power hungry and I always recommend using a powered USB hub.  If your power supply isn't 100% healthy, it may not be supplying enough power to it.
