Now it says (after being frozen for a minute) "Unable to connect for version check" or something along those lines.

edit: yes - my firewall is off - I turn off all anti-viruses and spam blockers when I game.

MarineUS, your using Vista, did you check out the vista tips and tricks thread?

IIRC, there was something in there about running the game as administrator to ensure none of the files are locked/unusable etc.

Might be worth looking at.

Even tho you've said you turn your firewall off, might want to check any firewall on your router to the internet, rules on their might have stopped you connecting. Worth a look fella.

Has happened in the past they've got banjoed, and stopped people connecting.

checked - nothing. I could play fine until this most recent patch. Once it downloaded my game froze.

Can you run a pingplotter to the game ip's. Ping Plotter is a freeware app from here http://www.pingplotter.com/freeware.html

Game ip's are

Axis vs Allies, Dueling, Early, Mid, Late War Blue Main Arena Server Address: 206.16.60.39
All WW1 Dogfight Arenas, Training, Late War Orange: 206.16.60.41
Special Events: 206.16.60.38

This might show you cant reach the servers (hence not connecting - long shot, but worth checking)

Wurzel (oh, and reapply any rules you have on your router, just in case)

haven't use PP in a while but I'll give it a shot if this reinstall doesn't work.


ok reinstall didn't work.

Game still freezes, check router, firewalls off....*sigh*



EDIT: O.K. after I worked around with it and did a reboot I found that my anti-virus was having a lockup issue. It would close on processes but was somehow running in the background and that was causing the game to freeze. whew. Glad THAT'S over  :x

Since new version when I click on AH desktop shortcut I get AH title screen in whiteout only, mouse cursor is hourglass, just sits there nothing happening. I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del and select AH, end program, then retry to get normal entry to game. Works every time so far (the above procedure) but is getting a little annoying. Windows XP and no other changes to system since new version.

@Marine your running a laptop?  Not the best platform for this game.  Your going to have to scale you play setting down.  Also with your sound try using the windows drivers rather then the the manufacture provided ones.  Also if your web cam is external, unplug it reboot then play.
