X36 Profile Problem.. Need help!
« on: April 17, 2001, 05:22:00 PM »
I'm having a problem getting the wheels to work at all as trim on my X36. I set it up so that it has 3 bands... the first band is 72-100 and is setup as a single button for trim. The 2nd band is 31-71, and is no command. The 3rd band is 0-30 and is the same as the first band except it's a different key press. For example, the 3rd band would be left aileron trim while the 1st band woudl be right aileron trim. The 3rd band has two presses "m,m" and the first band has "<,<" for the right aileron trim (it's not the < symbol, it's the comma).

Whenever I rotate the wheel NOTHING happens at all. Any ideas? I'm using the software that came on the CD.

U should be using SGE 1.4 or better yet 2.3 .
www.saitekhelp.com  has both versions for download . To get a good install it's really important to follow Ron Hunts install advice , I do every thing but delete my gameport driver as it's a squeak to reinstall it again   I mailed you too , hope your e-mail is active .

Here's a guess... did you map two presses of the same key thinking you'd get twice the distance from each trim notch ("<,<" and "m,m")?
The double key may be confusing it as there is no "mm" button.
Somewhere in the controls for each button is a setting for single toggle, cycle, repeat with interval, etc. Look in there and only map the "," and "m" once.
Only x36 control I've ever bothered banding was the throttle in Falcon 4, so I'm sorry if that's not any more help to you.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, and thanks for the profile spro. The wheels don't appear to work properly with the software from the CD, so I'm going to have to download and install the latest SGE software. Thanks for the link too spro.

Yeah I tried that originally Dux and that didn't work either. The wheels don't work unless I assign them as an axis and assign them as a throttle or something within AH.

I use them as for elevator trim (the one closest to thumb) and rudder trim (the one next to left fore finger in front of throttle). It works well but you have to remember to keep them centered and sometimes I have to spin them back through center then back out in order to get them to activate. I will check profile at lunch and see what exact setting (command) is and let you know.

Ok, mine is set up with three bands. A dead band (small) in the dead center. The one band for trim up has under action a lower case k with time set to 0.00 in the left hand choice while the middle is blank and the right window has a Upper case K with timing of 0.00. The other band is setup the same way with the letter I and i. Be sure the timing is set to 0.00 for all actions.

This was the reason my profile offered on the downloads page did not use the wheels for trimming. The read me file explains that after extensive testing I found a number of particular problems and bugs with the x36 programming. As a result I suggested the use of my profile for at least a few days before trying to reprogram and finding out the bugs for yourself.

You can always try my profile to at least see if your stick and version are operating.

My profile based to RagerBobs profile but I need make some changes. Sorry RB :-)

I use for El/Ai trim mouse hat. Its much more better than wheels. Kinda sharp.

I use external rudder a'la Logitech Wingman FFB pedals! Not maybe best but works.
The rudder trim is in old rudder rocker.

I still tuning my AH setup.

Seawulfe, I'm sending you my X36 profile via email.  Elevator and aileron trims are mapped to the rotary dials, and rudder trim is mapped to the rudder rocker (using CH Pro Pedals here)

Hope this works for you.
