Additional models for each aircraft
« on: December 16, 2010, 05:38:42 PM »
I'd like to see all aircraft have a tag next to it to designate Pacific from Euro, to Africa, etc.

For example, currently we have the P38J and its current skin slots are all full. If aircraft were designated as;

P38J- Pacific
P38J- Europe
P38J- Africa
P38J- Italy

It would quadruple the amount of skin slots available and help educate some of the masses about different theaters of the war (not to mention make skins easier to pick for scenario/FSO events). I'm not suggesting the con tag change any, just how they are viewed in the hanger. There is absolutely no use in making skins for aircraft that are full right now, even if the current ones look like garbage.

I sympathize with the why but I think that's a horrible idea.

Wouldnt this just be the same as increasing the amount of skins per plane? The only difference being they are sorted by location?  :huh

Curious how so?

It doesn't solve the problem, just ignores the problem and adds multiple iterations of the exact same plane in the hangar screen. Imagine how annoying it would be to scroll through 5 P-51Bs and 7 P-51Ds, identical in every way except the skins options you have?

Then imagine trying to find that one skin you remember, but can't recall the name of it. Going from skin to skin then plane to plane multiple times over.

All the while it doesn't solve the problem of upping the resources the game eats for every skin in the game.

So, as I mentioned I'm sympathetic but this idea simply adds clutter, confusion, and doesn't come up with anything new. Hence it's a horrible idea.

I like Del's idea but the only change I would make would be to include the CBI P-38 skins with the P-38 PTO skins.

Yes, but this way they will be much more easily sorted and we can finally see some new skins.

Some skins have been done and have been waiting in the queue for TWO YEARS. From what was described switching them out is too complicated, we have a limited number of skins per plane and that number isn't going up, and it will also allow CMs to enable European based P38s only (for example) in the upcoming European theater scenario with a single push of a button.

While I <S> your effort, I still say Fencer has the best idea for getting more skins in game. Just saying. Will keep an eye on this though incase it grows on me.

Great idea!!1!1

Then they could reduce the number of different skins per plane to 4 or 5 so we could have even more different models of each aircraft.
