I load these for my ARs. It's a bullet made by Barnes and is basically a frangible projectile. Massive and very rapid energy transfer with little penetration to your target. Very good for making groundhogs turn into mist.
I shoot 50gr Varmint Grenades and Hornady V-Max bullets on top of a couple different powders. Usually H322 and Accurate 2230. The Vmax bullets hands down are more accurate and frankly Hornady's Varmint Express is just about the finest load you can buy and better than most you can make in terms of accuracy and destruction of your target. It's the stubborn bastage in me that makes me want to at least try to get as good results with my own loads. I haven't yet...
That said the Barnes VG's are a whole lot of fun to shoot woodchucks with. I wouldn't try it on coyote or anything bigger than a legitimate little varmint because they don't penetrate they literally explode (actually disintegrate) on impact. I don't ever expect them to perform more accurately than a V-Max but they're acceptable for groundhogs inside of 200 yards so far. I haven't had a chance yet to take any shots longer than that.
