Just back - and Had fun in AvA last night
« on: December 22, 2010, 07:56:13 AM »
been away from AH for over 2 years, and to be honest I'm as rusty as an old nail. But on the advice of Dicho, I decided to give AVA a shot.

And I had a blast. I loved the quick fights, even if they ended more quickly than I would've liked. (I kind of felt like chum in the water.)I'm hoping to be dropping back in for a steady dose of "being owned-age"!

Special salute to TheBug for some really nice 1-2 turn fights, and for ending them mercifully with a quick shot to the head!

The "l" is silent.

Correcting a misspelling from the name I chose way back in the day.

From Tolkein's "The Silmarillion". Evidence of Geekiness, as if more were needed...

Just be warned - this was Tolkien's attempt at creating an entire historical record of his imaginary world. It's a collection of stories and tales, as if someone had made an anthology of the mythic history of the Anglo-Saxon people. So some of the stories read easily, while others sound like they were translated from some long dead languages.

It IS really cool to run across characters from the trilogy with their first appearance - like when Gandalf shows up under another name, trying to bring peace to the world. It's even more cool to realize that some of the character classes are bigger than you'd think from their place in the movies. Who'd have guessed what the wizards really were? And what's with the whole Grey Havens thing?

And how very, very nasty the history of Morgoth and his servant Sauron were.

Then the utterly sad story of Turin Turimbar...poor guy will make you feel like you never had a bad day in your life. Apparently based on a Finnish medieval legend...

Well, as I said, proof of Geekdom

i have a very special fighting style i use against thebug.

i get out my special pink bra, tie it on my head(like the geek in weird science), and flip my engines into stealth mode. then i sneak up on him. if i miss, i engage my re-appropriated romulan cloaking device, and run away screaming like a little girl. that last bit gets interesting with mom up here visiting sometimes.  :devil :x :bolt: :rofl

I wasn't going through all that fancy stuff.  Just slidin' the canopy back so the glass shards wouldn't hit before the kill shot to the head.   :lol   :salute

<S>Guys was fun fights last night!  Glad Dicho talked ya into stopping in the AvA Simaril.

Was especially good that the triplets kept themselves quietly occupied, milking an Allied CV.  :)
