190F-8 w the 4/50 kg Center Point Bomb Harness
« on: December 27, 2010, 10:24:40 PM »
I'd like to see the addition of the 4/50kg bomb harness under the center point for the 190F-8.  Having the ability to drop 8/50 kg bombs just may bring new life to the premier German dive bomber!   :)

In "The Encyclopedia of Aircraft of World War II", Paul Eden being the General Editor and published by Amber Books 2004, on page 181 it shows multiple pictures of 190F-8's belonging to Schlachtgeschwader 2 (used F-2 and F-3 as well), based in Hungary, with the ER 4 rack mounted on the center point.  It says that ... "the single center line 250kg bomb and 4/50 kg bombs mounted under the wings was fairly standard", but if no sense in stopping with what was just "fairly" common.   :aok

btw, the dark charcoal black base and the blue-ish gray irregular stripes used by Schlachtgeschwader 2 would make an awesome skin.  :D

There was no F-9 that I can remember.

For the 4x 50kg loadout, I believe Pyro or somebody asked for some info about it from the forum goers when they started remodeling the Bf109 lineup (we had some folks with nice reference libraries at the time, still do I suppose) but from the forum feedback there was too much noise and not enough valid info answering the question.

Then we lost the bomb rack on the E4 and F4, so I assume HTC decided it was too scarce or that it wasn't worth modeling at the time.

Not sure if they'd want to do the 4x 50kg rack now, after the fact.

Personally I don't think it would lend much to a Fw190F8. The 50kg is so weak that the 250kg is far far better, and the 500kg generally best for GV popping. Or the rockets!

Yea, they did had a 190F-9. It was basically a FW-190F-8 but with turbocharged BMW-801TS engine. Prototypes only.

Come to think more about it, i believe they had about 400 in production. Had all the specs as the 190F-8, but the eng was different.
