According to my Lexington-born Grandad, this recipe will serve
"four Southern Gentlemen and their Ladies, or a dozen Yankees and their women"

Joe Shelby's Kentucky Eggnog

1 dozen large eggs
1 quart whole milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 cup sugar
1 large pinch salt
1 quart Kentucky Bourbon (e.g., Jim Beam)
3 ounces dark Jamaican Rum (e.g., Myers)
freshly-ground nutmeg for garnish

Separate eggs, reserve whites for whipping later.
In a large bowl, combine egg yolks and milk, beat until smooth.
Add sugar and salt, beat until completely dissolved.
SLOWLY add Bourbon and Rum WHILE BEATING eggnog.
Clean beater, whip cream, fold into eggnog.
Clean beater, whip egg whites, fold into eggnog.

Serve in wide-mouth mug, top with pinch of nutmeg.

Enough soda and coffee to kill a herd of elephants.
Miller, rum and coke (normally capt. morgan but i found a slightly cheaper brand that mixes just as well...Admiral Nelson), have some vera nice homemade white wine I received as a Christmas gift.

2 things I avoid.....tequila (white) is responsible for the only blackout I have ever had and Firewater (the smell makes me gag after my last experience with it.)
On a public service note when planning on drinking copious amounts of schnapps a food to avoid like the plague is hotdogs with nacho cheese on them. (nacho cheese apparently adheres to the sinus cavity on the way out) :old:

I like White Russians instead of eggnog for this time of the year.

coffee or guinness

anything else is just to quench the thirst coffee or guinness bring on.

The special coca-cola with santa on the front! How could you possibly drink anything else this time of year?
