banana, is it a non-issue that the P-51D with similar type pilot armor got loads better 6 view?...while I know I'm going to sound like Lazs, it's hardly fair, is it?

your trying to game the game daff

the realistic point of view would be to get close to the armor plate and move your point of view to the side to get a better view.

in essence leaning to the side to get a look back at the tail instead of moving the pov all the way forward.

the proportions of the AH p47 cockpit and view limitations are accurate.

but no question the P-51d needs to be brought "up to code" of the latest artwork realism standards, its looking a little dated.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Whats wrong with the P-47 "six view" ? I haven't flown it in the arena, but I set my views up offline, and didn't notice any problems.

Gaming the game?..how?

By all means, keep the armor plate as it is in the P-47....but fix the P-51 armor plate  .

OK, forgive me, for I just fly them, not study them, (at least to that extent). So please explain "critical mach number"  to me.

Yes; we have.

The P51-D bubble canopy actually afforded a poorer rear and forward down view than the P51B with a Malcom Hood. The Malcom Hood, a british mod; was also evaluated here in the US; and since it too suffered from the NIH syndrome; the folks at North American Aviation opted for a bubble canopy. This is documented; and yes it is contrary to the POPULAR belief that you could not see your six from the cockpit of a bird-cage canopied plane.

The Jug with with an optimum head position adjustment actually has a better six view than the Pony in the sim.. so; why pick on my pony??

However; just as you can with a F4U, the sim allows head movement, turning this gripe into a non issue.. and I await the P51B with the Malcom Hood.

I'd sure like to get a snap view key that allows a brief 'head-down' peek at the lower guages in the Jug.. using page-down is very very clumsy.

Daff what the hell are you going on about with this 6 view rubbish? It's utterly ridiculous!

Oh - I see what it is now, hehehe. You ARE gaming the game - or do you normally sit backwards in your plane?

Wait, if Chuck can do it, it must be historically accurate!
