When I opened this thread I didn't know that Stephen Hawking was going to get dragged into it and that offended me.  I'm going to go cry.   :cry

This is going to get locked so here is my contribution.

Those last two posts I found hilarious.  Tigger's post really offended me though.

For the record, the LAST post in that thread was from the original poster and not from me, and it was deleted by Pyro... I never got to see what was actually SAID in that post, but I have a feeling it was that post that got the thread locked, not my opinion.
You're dumb.

Why did anyone say anything to the effect "they made Dick Clark do it"?  He owns the freaking show, it's his production.  He made the decision, he wanted to be there, and I suspect it's more about ego and arrogance than anything else.

Probably a little cash involved, as well.

Poor old guy, why did they put him in as the count down announcer? They guy is 90 years old and had a stroke. I felt bad for him, he was off on the countdown and could hardly talk.

They put him on for tradition, I assume, since he's been doing it for the last 600 or so odd years.

I share your feeling of pity and, frankly, I'm not sure why they keep him on.  It's sad.

Better a stroke-ridden Dick Clark than Ryan Seacrest.
