[/list]So far, SO GOOD.
Many similarities to Windows 2000, but the interface is much refined and user friendly. This OS is leaps ahead of the Win9x standard.
VERY stable! As stable as Windows 2000 was when I used it a few months ago. I am running XP on
NTFS and its running like a charm.
Only problem Ive encountered so far is, there is no programing software for my Saitek X-36. The joystick works, but I cant program its keys.
All Windows 2000 drivers I have used have worked like a charm. In fact, I only had to update a few drivers; Windows XP includes a lot of up to date drivers.
The thing I REALLY dont like about XP is the authentication and registration thing. Ir really will make a hard time for pirates, but it still is a hassle for the decent paying home user.
I am not an MS fan at all, but I really must admit they have done it right this time with Windows XP.
RecomendationIf you are running Windows 2000 and are happy with it, dont install XP.
If you are running Windows 98/ME, you will really love XP (unless you have unsupported hardware). My system has not crashed once, and its very compatible with software. Even if you are trying to run software that is not designed to run on XP, you can force the program to run by emulating Windows 98, NT, or 2000, and it works great.
AH Runs as fast or faster than it ran in Windows 98.
Once Saitek releases that damn Windows 2000 SGE, I am gonna be one happy camper.
