new ground tiles
« on: January 14, 2011, 01:27:12 PM »
Thanks to machnix for the new map.  It looks great!  I appreciate the countless hours it must have taken to produce it.  So thank you very much!

Unfortunately the map is yet again green.  (No fault of machnix)   I wish that HTC would make some different tiles for us to fly over.  I am not going to ask for anything specific.  Any change at all would be welcome.  Fall tiles ...desert tiles ...light snow tiles  I am game for anything.... please HTC ...please consider this.  I have flown over this "green" looking terrain for twice as long as the war lasted.  I really grow bored with the overall greenness, any visual change would be welcome.     P L E A S E !

Please note:  I am asking for a change for the main arenas ....I am well aware that some different terrains have been done in the AvA ...SEA etc..

They must have them. I've been flying over a desert all week.

don't forget the clouds and sand storms.  Some of those darker clouds are great for popping into and bouncing someone out of :D

Some of the most fun I've had in AH was on a North Africa map while in a Panzer IV H.  The desert tan and light brown colors and the long gentle rolling hills lead to some very fun tank fights at 2400 yards and up.  The use of high speed and dry river beds or ridges made things quite interesting.

I too agree that all the green green green green green green in the MA is becoming same same same.  How difficult is it to take a map that already exists, scramble up some bases, strategic targets, and an HQ in a shape of a big pie, and but it into rotation???  I know that there are maps of Europe and North Africa that are big enough to have that done.  It is a shame we don't get to use the custom desert and snow skins!!!

I've never done it myself but, as I understand, it is a long and quite difficult task.  Even after spending months getting one built it has to be submitted for HTC's approval and everything has to work.

Seriously though poke your head in to AVA some time.  Doesn't even have to be busy to check out the maps that we use.  There are some sweet set ups that you don't get in any other arena.

I agree the AvA has had some great weather and maps ...that's why I am so puzzled as to why the MA's need to be so boringly the same.  We used to have the AKdesert map in the MA's ...and it was a fantastic change of pace

By the way,  does anybody have any screen shots of the AKmap? ....out of plane views ...the map itself?

My only other idea would be to get involved with the terrain team and see what it takes to build one.

Lots of creative people in this game I'm sure the talent is out there.

The Grinder has snow covered peaks and also new water colors.  Looks awesome.  :aok
Plus 1 on more tiles.  The more, the merrier.

I've been working on a map for months now.  Wish I would had Mr. MIDI's elevation tutorial before starting.  A hell of a lot of pointing and clicking using the elevations tab in the Terrain Editor.  :(

+1 Bring the AvA and Special Events terrain (not maps) to MA
